About Be Ready

Be Ready helps everyday Nigerians understand how the capital market works, prepare themselves to take part in it, and protect themselves from investment scams.

The programme delivers short, plain-language lessons on what investing is, how shares and public offers work, what you need in place before you can participate — a bank account, a CSCS account, a registered stockbroker — and how to recognise fraudulent investment offers. Content is delivered through accessible digital channels, including WhatsApp, so that it reaches people on the platforms they already use every day.

Be Ready is an educational service only. It does not provide investment advice, does not recommend or promote any company, security or investment product, and does not accept money from the public. Participation in Be Ready gives no person any priority, preference or entitlement in relation to any public offer.

Who we are

Be Ready is operated by Sponge Media Ltd (RC1641500), 56b Isaac John Street, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria. Sponge Media Ltd is the data controller for information collected through the Be Ready programme.

What we collect

• Your WhatsApp phone number, which is how we identify your session and reply to you.
• Your answers to the readiness questions you choose to complete.
• Your progress through the programme, including lessons completed.
• Messages you send us, so that we can respond to them.

We ask whether you hold a Bank Verification Number, a bank account or a CSCS account. We never ask for, and never collect, those numbers themselves, nor do we ask for PINs, passwords, one-time passwords or card details. No genuine Be Ready message will ever request them.

How we use it

• To answer your questions and deliver the readiness check you asked for.
• To work out which lessons and guidance would be most useful to you.
• To send you programme updates, investor education and market updates, where you have agreed to receive them.
• To produce anonymised, aggregated reporting on investor readiness in Nigeria. This reporting never identifies any individual.

Consent and opting out

You may stop receiving messages from us at any time by replying STOP. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it. If you opt out, we will stop contacting you — but you can still message us with a question and we will help. Reply START at any time to resume updates.

Sharing

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone marketing products or services to you. Information may be shared with service providers who help us operate the platform, under contract and only for that purpose, and where we are required to do so by law.

Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you have the right to access the information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to object to how it is used. To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days.

Retention and security

We keep your information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described above, after which it is deleted. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is restricted to authorised personnel, and all access is logged.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will publish the updated version on this page and record the date of the change.
